A Flag on the Island - 1967

Anthony Boxhill compares the two novels The Mimic Men and A Flag on the Island. The two works are similar not only in structure but also in having similarly portrayed narrators: “Each story is told in the first person by a self-searching, self-accusing individual who is keenly aware of the shortcomings of the society he is describing and of his own complicity in helping create or perpetuate these shortcomings.”
